Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for a CLOTHING SHOP
1. Shop Opening:
Arrive at shop at least 15–30 minutes before opening time.
Turn on lights, machines, fan/AC.
Clean the workspace and ensure all tools (scissors, measuring tape, needles, threads, etc.) are in place.
Review appointments or pending orders for the day.
2. Customer Reception:
Greet every customer politely.
Ask about their needs: alteration, repair, or custom tailoring.
If it’s a new garment or custom order, provide design samples or fabric suggestions if needed.
3. Taking Measurements:
Use clean measuring tape.
Record measurements clearly in a customer order book or system.
Double-check critical measurements (e.g., chest, waist, inseam).
Note any specific requests by customer (e.g.sleeve length, fit style, extra pockets).
4. Quotation and Delivery Time:
Provide a clear price estimate based on the work.
Mention estimated time for completion.
Issue a receipt or order slip with customer details, measurements, and delivery date.
5. Tailoring Work:
Mark and cut the fabric carefully.
Follow the customer’s measurement and style instructions exactly.
Iron pieces as needed during stitching.
Ensure finishing is neat and secure (hems, seams, buttonholes).
6. Quality Check:
After stitching, inspect the garment for accuracy and quality.
Ensure measurements match and there are no loose threads or defects.
Iron the final product neatly.
7. Delivery and Customer Fitting:
Inform the customer once the order is ready.
During delivery, offer a trial to confirm fitting.
If adjustments are needed, note them and make corrections quickly.
Thank the customer and ask for feedback if appropriate.
8. Shop Closing:
Tidy the workspace.
Turn off all equipment.
Secure customer orders and important items.
Lock up the shop safely against theft or burglary.
